Focus on Community Partners

Interfaith Ministries partners with a number of community agencies and organizations in order to provide services to those in need.

Among those partners are the Denton Lions Club and the Denton Hi-Noon Lions Club.

Interfaith is a collection site for used eyeglasses which are cleaned, repaired and distributed to those in need by local Lions Clubs.

Interfaith also screens and refers applicants for the Lions Clubs' Children's eyeglass program. In 2004, Interfaith and local Lions clubs, along with local eye care providers, assisted 45 local school children with obtaining eye exams and new eyeglasses.

The clubs have also been instrumental in providing funding to purchase eye exams and glasses for adults.

Apple Tree

Back-to-School Project

Interfaith Ministries’ Apple Tree Back-to-School Project, which assists children from low-income families with essential items for back-to-school, is currently taking applications for the 2008/2009 school year It is estimated that 39% of the children enrolled in Denton ISD meet the Federal Poverty Guidelines for assistance. This translates into a real number of just over 8,000 children who may need help purchasing supplies to begin the new school year. Our goal for 2008 is to assist at least 850 DISD children with school supplies, backpacks, shoes, and clothes for back-to-school. Volunteers (especially bi-lingual) are needed to assist in taking applications. To apply for Back-to-School assistance call (940) 565-5479. For information, on how you can assist others contact us at (940) 566-5927.

Fan Donations Needed
As summer approaches, many of our clients live in homes without air conditioning and/or substandard insulation. This creates a dangerous situation for the elderly or those with small children. Help them “beat the heat” by donating a new box fan. Fans may be dropped off at Interfaith’s main office, 109 W. Sycamore St. Denton.
